Genesis Mission Vision

Karshaka Vidyapeedam , popularly known as Kerala Farmers’ University is headquartered at Padannakkad in Kasaragod district of Kerala. It is a University of the farmers by the farmers for the farmers, which came into being in the year 2019 under the chairmanship of Prof. K. Abdul Kareem, the renowned extensionist. The goal of the Farmers’ University is to groom a new generation farmers, who are well versed in farmers’ farming and new science based knowledge. It aims at promoting farmers’ education, farmers’ experimentation and research , farmer to farmer extension and processing, value addition and marketing.

The occupational dependency of the populace of Kerala on agriculture is decreasing day by day. The offspring of farmers do not become farmers. The generation called farmers is gradually becoming extinct.As such it has become imperative to preserve the existing community of farmers and to transfer their knowledge, legacy and culture to a receptive, willing segment of new generation. It is in this backdrop Kerala Farmers ’University is conceived and started functioning.
